Join the East Wing X team on Sunday 17th February for an exciting day of
family activities! Take a trail around the exhibition with your kids, exploring
the different ways our artists use their materials, and find out how and why
each artist has chosen to push these materials to their limit.
Run by students from The Courtauld Institute of Art, the biennial ‘East Wing’
exhibition gives viewers the chance to see the work of celebrated, established
and emerging artists from the UK and abroad. East Wing X celebrates the
theme Material Matters for its twentieth-anniversary show, exhibiting
artworks made from soap to stained glass, concrete to string.
We’ve chosen ten of our favourite artworks to focus on for our family day,
from Damien Hirst to Slinkachu, each one using materials in lots of different
ways. There will be plenty to explore for children and adults alike as you
follow our trail around The Courtauld Institute of Art, with tons of activities
and crafts for the kids so the adults can sit back, relax and enjoy the art
(unless they’d rather join in!).
We want you to enjoy the day as much as possible so we’ve made it completely
free of charge, all we need is an RSVP with your name, group size and what
time you’d like to come. Hourly trails will run every half an hour between
10am to 1.30pm or you can pop back for a larger workshop from 3pm until
4.30pm.Baby changing, buggy area and disabled access available.
